Are you in a hurry? Are you rushing? Last week was it like that? Will it be like that this week? Does next week sound a lot like that, too?
Two questions:
Why are you so busy? With what are you so busy?
As a preacher friend accurately observed, “We have become so busy with nonsense that we neglect necessities.” Sadly, that describes far too many Christians in our world today.
Sad. Indeed, we have become so busy that we are pushing necessities out of our schedule to make room for nonsense.
Parents consider this: When was the last time you read to your kids? When was the last time you read your Bible to your teens? Teens need Bible reading too, and they need those spiritual touches from mom and dad.
Husband, when was the last time you turned everything off to spend one-on-one time with your wife? When did you last take her for a walk, help her with dishes, or walk up and kiss her “just because”?
Wife, when was the last time you let the chores go undone for a moment to sit on the side of your husband’s recliner? When did you last cuddle beside him to watch that game?
Christian, when was the last time you turned everything off and prayed? When did you last switch off the electronics and read your Bible? When did you last hold your spouse’s hand and read or pray together?
Folks, we have become too busy. And when we get this busy, so busy we aren’t doing the spiritual things we must, we are flat-out too busy.
