Storms Might? Come

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and its collapse was great” (Matt. 7:24-27).

Some act like nothing ever goes wrong for Christians, that we are simply floating on clouds all the time. This creates unrealistic expectations and shames those who don’t share those experiences. In reality, as Jesus said, storms come. If we don’t have a solid foundation built firmly upon Jesus as God and King, we will never endure the floods and rains. As those striving to brave storms, we must remain cognizant of those beside us who also strive to brave storms. Not all have as solid a foundation, and we can, with a kind or encouraging word, help sure up those beside us. The better equipped we are to serve, the better the overall work will be, and the better we all can be at braving the storms.
