Praying in the New Year

How much better would your new year be if your prayer life was what it should be? In 2024 work to have a stronger prayer life. Here are some things to pray for in 2024. One idea, focus a single prayer on the subject of the day, while still mentioning the others at least once in your daily prayers. Every Sunday, have a single special prayer that expresses the desire that God be glorified. Later, in other prayers express some of the other subjects. Monday, focus on thanksgiving in a single focused prayer, and use other prayers through the day to discuss the other subjects.

Sunday – Pray for the glory of God (Luke 17:11-19; cf. 2:13-14, 20)

How often do you stop and pray that God be glorified?

Monday – Pray in thanksgiving (Lk. 17:15-16; cf. 2:38)

How often do you stop and thank God for everything

Tuesday – Pray for spiritual growth and strength (Lk. 17:5)

How often do you stop and ask God to strengthen you and help you grow?

Wednesday – Pray for others (Lk. 6:27-28; cf. 23:34)

How many people could you mention in your prayers? How many have wronged you?

Thursday – Pray for local church (Ac. 4:23-31; Phil. 1:3-6).

How is the local church where you worship doing? How much better could they be doing if everyone prayed for it?

Friday – Pray for opportunities to share faith (Ac. 13:1-3)

How many people do you know that don’t know Jesus? Pray for them.

Saturday – Pray for He cares for you (Lk. 11:9-13; 18:1-8; Ac. 10:31; cf. I Pet. 5:7)

None of the rest of this would matter if God didn’t care. Pray in the new year because God cares.

Bonus Prayers…

Pray before big decisions (Lk. 6:12-13; cf. 3:21)

How many big decisions will you need to make this year; how many will you ask God about?

Pray daily (Morning/evening) for daily needs (Lk. 11:3; cf. 6:12-13)

How many mornings will start with God; how many evenings will you end with Him?
