The opportunity to ponder the magnificent. How sweet. Indeed, there is a habitation, a dwelling place built by the living God. It stands for all of every nation who seek that grand abode. O Zion, God’s holy city, our eternal dwelling place, the singer cries out, longing to see the city gates. The chorus concludes each time with the wondering question: When shall I dwell in thee?
The hymn was written in 1882. 144 years have passed. Almost 2,000 years have passed since the picture in Scripture (see Heb 11:10, 16; Rev 21:10-12).
Are you living for the physical, temporal habitation, or are you living for the eternal home of the soul?
Here’s a YouTube clip of it (here).
